Cedar Roof Restoration

We start with an honest evaluation of your roof. We set ourselves apart from our competition with our in depth roof evaluation upon our initial visit. Rather than relying on slick sales videos, extraordinary claims and snappy one-liners to entice a sale, Old Town Cedar starts with an honest and accurate on-roof evaluation of your roofs current condition and expected service life. We then offer you a personal one-on-one consultation so you can make an informed buying decision that is best for you, based upon your own budget and long term plans for your home. If the roof is determined to be a good candidate for restoration an accurate cost estimate will then presented to you, usually at the end of our initial visit.

Roof Cleaning - Using a pressure washer with very moderate pressure (1500-1700 psi) any fungus/moss is removed from the roofs surface. Properly done by our experienced workers using the proper pressure wash equipment, power washing will not harm your roof in any way. We do not use any chemicals to clean the roof, only water from your tap water supply. We feel power washing, if done correctly with the right equipment, is the best and most thorough way to prepare the roof for the application of a wood preservative.

Cedar shake repairs - As a wood roof ages, it is common and expected for individual shakes/shingles to need replacement. After washing the roof, we will carefully inspect the roof and replace individual shakes that are rotten, missing or severely curled. We feel the shake repair aspect of our program is very important and can not be emphasized enough. A roof is only as good as its weakest link. We will make our best effort to ensure your roof is complete and in good, solid condition before applying the wood preservative.

Wood preservative - After your roof is cleaned and properly repaired we will apply a wood preservative/stain to your roof using low pressure spray equipment. We exclusively using Amteco TWP brand oil based wood preservative because our extensive experience has shown us the Amteco TWP is the most effective choice in controlling moss/fungus as well as protecting the wood from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. Amteco products have been rated highly in independent test conducted by Forest Products Laboratory in Lufkin, Texas as well as Consumer Reports magazine.

As an additional benefit, Amteco TWP products come in a variety of colors including various shades of brown, red and grey. Or choose Clear for a natural weathered look. The final appearance of your home is chosen by you.
